Playful Literacy

A play-based early literacy segment for ages 2 - 5 focusing on phonemic awareness through play. Kids will learn book orientation, rhyming, syllable segmentation, and sound identification as well as sound-to-letter correspondence as they show readiness and interest.

STEM

Our program incorporates a daily, hands-on STEM activity that incorporates on our theme of the week. In STEM, we build thinking skills, problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and abstraction abilities. Projects include making dinosaur bones out of oobleck, painting with rocks and exploding volcanoes!

DRAMA

Every day, children pretend play with the theme of the week in our drama room. We use props to play “camping,” “traveling,” “the market,” “the bank” and so much more. Drama focuses on role-playing, socialization, and conversational skills as children are encouraged to spin the pretend into other play schemas!

 

Daily Movement

 
 

Daily Sports

All of our students participate in 20 to 30-minute segments of soccer, basketball and tennis that alternate on a daily basis with a sports coach from The Play Place.

Dance

Students will participate in a weekly 30-minute dance class led by our educators. Dance classes are held in the No Limits Performing Dance Studio.

Indoor & Outdoor

Our students have full access to the Play Place’s indoor gym spaces including the jungle gym and the playground. We also have a beautiful meadow next door that we love!

Below is our full day schedule as an example.

Schedules will differ based on your child’s cohort, but all students will see our core curriculum.

7:30am - 9:00am: Before Care ($18/day; drop-in or monthly set-up)

9:00am - 9:30am : Arrivals & Morning Meeting

9:30am - 9:45am: Snack

9:45am - 10:15am: Sports or Dance (all sports and dance classes led by Indy Lab educators)

  • Mondays: Jungle Gym

  • Tuesdays: Soccer

  • Wednesdays: Tennis

  • Thursdays: Basketball or Rock Climbing Wall

  • Fridays: Dance

10:15am - 10:45am: STEM

10:45am - 11:15am: Playful Literacy

11:15am - 11:45am: Dramatic Play

11:45am - 12:15pm Spanish Immersion / Half-Day Dismissals

12:15pm - 12:45pm: Lunch / Music Class Lunch Bunch on Tuesdays with Ms. Nancy

12:45pm - 2:40pm: Nap / Movement Break / Uninterrupted Free Play

  • 12:45pm: Nap starts for napping students

  • 12:45pm - 1:15pm: Movement break for non-napping students (indoor)

  • 1:15pm - 2:15pm: Uninterrupted Free Play for non-napping students

  • 2:15pm - 2:40pm: Movement break for non-napping students (outdoor)

2:40pm - 2:45pm: Pack up & Dismiss

No After Care Option

If your child participates in a half-day program, they are welcome to join our Lunch Bunch music class with Ms. Nancy from 12:45pm - 1:15pm every Tuesday at $25/class.
