A Fives Classroom

This classroom is tailored to children whose birthdays are late in the year. The classroom will be led by a NYS licensed kindergarten teacher with more than 20 years of K-8 experience and will follow the NYS Core Standards.

The Benefits of a Kindergarten Transition Program

A well-structured kindergarten transition program provides young children with the support and familiarity they need to enter school with confidence. By offering activities that build foundational skills, introduce classroom routines, and foster social-emotional development, these programs ease the shift from early childhood settings to formal education. They help reduce anxiety, promote positive attitudes toward learning, and strengthen relationships between families, educators, and peers. Additionally, transition programs ensure that children begin kindergarten with a strong sense of belonging, setting the stage for academic success and a smooth integration into the school community.

Child-Centered Education

We place the child at the center of the learning process. Each child is recognized as a unique individual with their own interests, strengths, and learning styles. The curriculum is tailored to meet the specific needs of each child, allowing them to develop at their own pace while fostering a sense of confidence and independence.

Experiential Learning

We believe in the power of experiential learning. Children actively engage in hands-on activities, such as science experiments, art projects, gardening, and nature exploration. By immersing themselves in these experiences, children develop a deep understanding of concepts, enhance their cognitive skills, and make meaningful connections to the world around them.

STEM Education

With an increasing focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), we integrate these disciplines seamlessly into its curriculum. Students engage in age-appropriate STEM activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. These early experiences lay a strong foundation for future academic and personal success.

Social-Emotional Focus

Recognizing the importance of social and emotional skills, we place great emphasis on fostering a positive and inclusive community. Students learn essential social skills, empathy, and emotional regulation through collaborative play, group projects, and engaging interactions with their peers and teachers. This holistic approach ensures their overall well-being and prepares them for future social interactions.
