What Makes The Indy Lab Different?

Play and project-based learning led by child development experts.

Child Development Specialists

Our curriculum is originally created by our Founder and Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, Frida Matute. The development of the curriculum began with Playful Literacy and evolved into all the core segments we have today including STEM, Spanish Immersion and Uninterrupted Free Play over the course of six years since 2019.

Our Parenting Center experts are in the areas of sleep, fine and gross motor skill development, mental health, feeding and speech. Our clinical specialists conduct classroom observations on a monthly basis and facilitate your child’s development with you by providing in person, private meetings as well as guidance for our teachers.

A Child-Centered Approach

Our lessons are centered with our children in mind. Children learn through play and making, which we call projects and process, and use that to grow a curiosity about our world and a love of learning. The combination of free and guided play throughout our projects and process-based activities helps children learn more about topics in our world while also getting the opportunity to explore them freely with their peers.

Individualized Attention

We believe that behavior has meaning. Our educators and team are trained to closely observe and listen to our students to best understand their needs. If we understand why a child is approaching a task in a specific way, then we can help them learn to their fullest potential.

A Close and Collaborative Community

Our community is unlike any other. We offer families many chances to connect throughout the school year in the form of parent coffees, workshops, school-wide events like Museum Day, our Halloween party and our morning Valentine’s Day event. Our class parents support our school by organizing amazing playdates in homes, local parks and local businesses as well. We love to get to know our families each day at drop off and pick up, and have regular office hours to discuss anything on your mind.

Planning for the future

We believe that an attentive preschool can make the biggest difference in the educational future of a child. The brain is most “plastic” and malleable between the ages of 0-5, which is why we have dedicated our lives and stay committed to the concept that if we can enrich skills early enough, children will be successful. We will partner with you on your goals along the way both at school and at home to ensure we are working towards a great first step in elementary school for your child.
