Fostering Independent, Capable Learners

Our genuine curiosity about children’s development guides our teaching, shaping how we support their growth, behaviors, and learning.

A Developmental Focus to Early Education

At The Indy Lab, we believe that children learn best through play, curiosity, and hands-on exploration. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to inspire joy and growth while fostering essential skills for lifelong learning.

What Guides
Our Teaching

Playful Learning

Playful Learning blends uninterrupted and guided play. Free play helps students develop social-emotional skills like negotiating, sharing, and collaborating. Guided play deepens learning on complex topics, with teachers providing insights, fostering curiosity, and enhancing understanding.

Child Led

Preschool children thrive with a balanced approach that blends patience, guidance, and child-led opportunities. Whether leading a part of circle time or demonstrating how to tell a story, they gain autonomy, independence, and confidence through activities that empower their choices and voices.

Individualized Approach

Every child deserves a personalized approach to development and education. At The Indy Lab, we integrate both to support learning. If extra help is needed, we design tailored plans and work with families to implement classroom accommodations before exploring further steps.

Communication & Community

At The Indy Lab, we believe families thrive when they are part of a supportive community. Children and parents benefit from opportunities to connect, share, and play. Our goal is to create a true “home away from home,” where every family feels welcome and included in school life. To foster belonging, we invite parents to join story time several times a month and encourage Class Parents to volunteer with decorating, setting up, and breaking down events. These shared moments enrich our programs, spark friendships, and strengthen bonds. This year, we will also host lectures and workshops for young families to learn, grow, and feel supported together.

What is The Indy Lab Method?

At The Indy Lab, we have developed an original curriculum that focuses on the development of a child, and creating enriching experiences for learning to grow their curiosity about their world and develop their skills across the 5 developmental areas which include language, cognition, social-emotional, physical and approaches to learning. Our curriculum called The Indy Lab Method, was started by our Founder, Frida Matute, a pediatric speech-language pathologist and iterated upon by our team of knowledgeable educators. As a result, our lessons have a strong foundation between critical early educational goals and the science behind child development.

“We’ve been amazed at the benefits/results of playful literacy – within the first week we could see the advancement in speech, communication, observation and vocabulary. Frida (the director) and her team are absolutely wonderful – professional, caring – and the fact that my little one asks to go to school speaks volumes to the environment that’s been cultivated there.” -Adriana
